3 days isn’t a great deal of time to see Mawlamyine and surrounding areas, so some choices will need to be made. Day three has two suggested options, depending on your tastes.
Option 1 would be best for those who are in the region because of its WWII history and would also be the better option for those who may have mobility difficulties. That said, the region is not set up for those with disabilities and stairs are everywhere!
Option 2 would be best for those who are interested in Buddhist history and who don’t mind trekking barefoot through some dark caves.
Yadanarbon (Queen’s) Monastery
Mukyi jungle walk to newly discovered rock carvings
Overnight at Mukyi Meditation Retreat or back to Mawlamyine
Sunset river cruise or walk along Strand Road – book through a travel agency on Strand Road
Option 1: World War II
Option 2: Buddhist Culture
